Nepal reveal 24-player training group ahead of T20 World Cup 2026

Nepal announce 24-player camp squad

Nepal have taken the first major step towards finalising their squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, announcing a 24-player training group that will assemble for a preparatory camp in the coming weeks.

The camp will play a decisive role in shaping Nepal’s final 15-member squad for the global tournament, which gets underway on February 7 across India and Sri Lanka. Selectors will closely monitor performances before trimming the group ahead of the deadline.

Nepal’s extended squad largely reflects continuity, with 16 players retained from the side that impressed earlier this year by clinching a 2-1 T20I series win over West Indies during September and October. That series marked a significant milestone for Nepal and underlined the growing depth in their T20 setup.

Several standout performers from domestic cricket have also earned opportunities. Sher Malla, Binod Bhandari, Abinash Bohara and Basir Ahamad are among the eight additional players included after eye-catching displays in the Nepal Premier League, giving selectors extra options across departments.

All-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee, who recently grabbed attention with three direct-hit run outs during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia & EAP Qualifier, remains a key figure, alongside experienced names such as Sandeep Lamichhane, Rohit Paudel and Kushal Bhurtel.

Nepal booked their place at the T20 World Cup 2026 with an unbeaten run at the Asia-Pacific Regional Final in Oman in October. The upcoming edition will mark their second consecutive World Cup appearance and third overall, highlighting the steady rise of Nepal cricket on the international stage.

Drawn in Group C, Nepal face a challenging campaign against England, West Indies, Bangladesh and Italy, with the training camp expected to focus on adaptability and squad balance ahead of the demanding group fixtures.
