The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has postponed the unveiling of the national team’s official jersey for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, sources confirmed on Thursday, adding to the uncertainty surrounding Pakistan’s participation in the marquee tournament.
According to insiders, the PCB had planned to reveal the new jersey following the toss of the second T20I against Australia at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. However, the ceremony has now been delayed due to what sources described as unavoidable circumstances.
The postponement comes at a sensitive time, with questions still hanging over Pakistan’s involvement in the T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to begin on February 7 across India and Sri Lanka.
Sources further revealed that the PCB is expected to take a final call on Pakistan’s participation early next week, following consultations at the highest level. A decision is likely to be announced on Monday.
Pakistan are currently scheduled to open their World Cup campaign against the Netherlands on February 7 and have been drawn in Group A, alongside arch-rivals India, the United States, and Namibia.
Under the tournament’s hybrid hosting model, Pakistan’s group-stage matches are slated to be played in Sri Lanka, despite India being named as one of the official co-hosts of the event.
Concerns within the PCB reportedly intensified last week after the International Cricket Council (ICC) replaced Bangladesh with Scotland in the tournament line-up, following Bangladesh’s refusal to travel to India. The decision has caused unease in Pakistan cricket circles, particularly as the PCB had publicly backed Bangladesh’s stance during the dispute.
While no official statement has been issued regarding the jersey launch delay or Pakistan’s participation, the postponement has further fueled speculation among fans, with clarity expected once the PCB concludes its internal deliberations.
